CHISHOLM’S VISION - Granite Curling Club Wpg
If Architect James Chisholm’s had produced a rendering of his vision for the the iconic Granite CC, this is what I imagined it would have looked like. Circa 1912. Research confirmed that the red brick-a-brack of this great Tudor building is very unusual and unique to this building. Creating even more historic value.
The painting of the 3 elements of the Granite CC set against a granite background was conceived to highlight each image. The crest is painted true to the large original crests that hang on the rink’s back wall. The image of the bronze plaque that is hanging above the club’s fireplace was embossed into the 300lb watercolour paper and then painted with many layers of metal acrylics, celebrating the club’s history.
The large original painting was created to celebrate the Club’s 100th birthday and as a fundraiser. The painting was raffled and after many years of being enjoyed, it has been returned and now hangs in the Club.
There is a bit of the Titanic’s history in the painting and it’s builders.
